Things To Do On Siesta Key! Siesta Key is an eight-mile-long barrier island off the coast of Sarasota, Florida,
that features a tropical atmosphere such as white sands, and several waterfront hotels, resorts and condos. Siesta Key is a wonderful find, such a great beach, great weather and wonderful people to meet.

Like most of the vacationers to the Key you will definitely want to check out the Siesta Key Beaches including the world famous Siesta Key Public Beach, rated as the 2nd best beach in all of Florida by cable-TV’s “The Travel Channel.” There are over 100 boutiques, A - Siesta Key Beach #1cafes, restaurants and bars in the Siesta Key Village. Siesta Key Village is not overly large to navigate by walking. It all lies within a 3 to 4 block area.

Types of Activities:

There are several water sports rental places, several boat tours and fishing charter businesses, Point of Rocks for shore shelling, scuba & snorkeling, gear rentals, kayaking & canoeing, parasailing & paragliding, dolphin & whale watching, fishing charters & tours, water skiing & jet skiing and much more.

Many activities in Siesta Key take place right on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Visitors can enjoy sunbathing, boating, sailing, beach volleyball, nature walks, swimming, cave exploring, watching street performers, bird watching and wildlife viewing. Siesta Key is home to several state-owned parks, and many offer beach access. These parks are idyllic destinations for picnicking, camping and hiking.

Events:

1_-_Siesta_Key_Farmers_Market_-_Village_CafeSiesta Key Farmers Market a best kept secret operates every Sunday morning in the Village. A great way to spend a vacation, seeing local artists and local businesses selling their products. It goes from 8am to 1pm  and most are closing up at 1pm so come early and hangout and listen to the live music!

A super way to spend Sunday morning! Have a tasty breakfast at one of the many restaurant choices in the village. Then visit the market before heading to the beach.

The market is located in the parking lot of the Davidson’s Pharmacy at the 5100 block of Ocean Blvd. The market includes many vendors such as fresh fruits and veggies by Yum Yum Tree, Fouta Spa towels, hand made pottery, Vinsoy hand made candles by Kim Johnson.

In addition Tropical silk paintings by Rita Van Gorder, plant varieties of bromeliads by Jason Mellica, photography by Mike Lee Beck and renowned artist Lloyd Dobson Artist exhibiting tropical beach themed oil paintings with FREE shipping to the lower US 48 & Canada and many more vendors including live music.

After walking the beach come into the Village and check out some 1_-_the_hub_baja_grill_at_night_-_templateof the restaurants, bars and boutiques. One of my favorites is The Hub Baja Grill located at the stop sign. Pan-Latin fare & margaritas are the draws at this festive, tropical-themed eatery with live music.

Another favorite is The Cottage. The staff are friendly, you feel like 1_-_siesta_key_the_cottage_-_templatethey could be family. They have a couple of nice sitting options, I.e. front porch to watch the people walking by, inside if it’s too hot and the inner courtyard which has some great island music. The food is above average with some Asian and other influences. Great spot to meet folks.

If late night is your thing then The Beach Club is the place to go for late night dancing and socializing.

My Favorite Sunday “Funday” afternoon schedule is the following:

1) Breakfast sandwich from Alex’s Village Cafe booth at the Siesta Key Farmers Market.

2) Selling my paintings at the the Siesta Key Farmers Market.

3) Going to The Hub for a great lunch, island live music and adult beverages after leaving the Siesta Key Farmers Market.
our thing then
4) Late afternoon for reggae music by Desi Adams and great food at Gilligan Island Bar.1 - Desi Adams Playing At Gilligans
